ABOUT

Durazo Construction “executes big and acts small.” This thought process is at the core of everything we do. We execute “big” in every project we complete with the same attention to detail and dedication regardless of size and scope. Over 30 years ago, Mario Durazo founded Durazo Construction with a vision to create an organization that focuses on quality, service and integrity. “Humble roots” is how Mario would describe the foundational blocks of this company. The management team at Durazo Construction ensures that all team members who take part in a project understand that they are building for the future, therefore sustainability and quality are essential ingredients to every project’s completion.

The driving component to our company being recognized as one of the top construction firms to work with is our “act small” mentality. No project is too small; regardless of size, our clients know that our commitment and dedication will deliver on our promise to generate quality results on any project entrusted to us.

Durazo Construction has had the honor of being a part of many notable commercial, historic preservation, park development and design/build projects in Southern Arizona. Our decades of knowledge, collaborative team environment and built to last infrastructure provides our valued clients with effective construction management from the pre-construction and consultation phase through final completion. We take pride in our work and ensure that excellence in execution and our client is always our top priority.

Historic restoration is always a challenge; Durazo has been very easy to work with. We have had many budget challenges and as we work through them Durazo has time and again been flexible with us. When work is finished it has been top quality.

Todd Miller, Project Manager Pima County Facilities Management

TMM Family Services, Inc., (TMM) Tucson, AZ., owns and operates a seven acre housing campus in mid-town. Beginning in 2007 and through the present, Durazo Construction Corporation has been our development company of choice for building several separate campus buildings, including children’s group homes, large three bedroom apartments for single mom families, a two story multi-purpose Administrative Center, and a Children’s receiving and evaluation center.

Our board and staff have always found the Owner and Superintendent, as well as the various sub-contractors utilized for the project, to be honest and helpful in all aspects of the construction project, including the obtaining of the Final Permits required to occupy buildings. And, of importance for a nonprofit agency like TMM, the cost for each project has always come in at the contracted amounts.

TMM recommends that you consider Durazo Construction Corporation for your residential or commercial building needs.

Don Strauch, President/CEO TMM Family Services

The Pima County Community Land Trust is happy to endorse Durazo Construction Corporation. Since our program began over 5 years ago, Durazo Construction Corporation has partnered with PCCLT to provide beautifully rehabbed homes to low and moderate income families in our community.

Durazo Construction Corporation always demonstrates great pride in their workmanship. Their attention to detail and use of superior materials are appreciated by PCCLT and the lucky homeowners who live in a home rehabbed by them.

Working with Durazo is stress-free. Staff and Management always comport themselves in a very friendly and professional manner. All jobs done for PCCLT have been completed on-time and within budget.

Maggie Amado-Tellez, Executive Director Pima County Community Land Trust

In my nearly 50 years of construction experience, I have yet to work with a firm that takes a greater interest in completing a given project within scope, budget and on time. The professionalism exhibited by Durazo Construction Corporation’s, staff whether it be management, administrative or field construction related, is evident through all phases of a project’s completion process from pre-bid services through resolving warranty issues. In addition, the concept of ‘Partnering’ is defined by the cooperative attitude of all Durazo Construction Corporation personnel and is exhibited throughout the required steps to complete a project.

I would strongly recommend Durazo Construction Corporation for any sized project regardless of budget and schedule constraints.

Art Gibbs, Project Coordinator Pima County PMO

On behalf of the Tucson Parks & Rec. Durazo personnel demonstrated exemplary dedication, professionalism and technical expertise throughout the construction of this project.

I feel the company’s responsiveness, cooperation and overall, wholehearted support of our vision for these projects, truly helped to make them the success they have turned out to be. Robert Just, Landscape Architect City of Tucson, Parks & Recreation Dept.

It was a pleasure to work with Durazo Construction on the Reid Park Zoo Elephant Barn Expansion. They are a true team player and worked hard to keep the project within budget and on schedule, which was extremely important to ensure the facility was ready for the new baby elephant when it arrived.

Kevin A. Barber, AIA LEED AP Swaim Associates LTD

It has been a real pleasure working with Durazo Construction and we sincerely appreciate all their hard work and commitment on the Ft. Lowell Adkin's Parcel Historic Preservation project. It was a challenging project and Durazo Construction went above and beyond to make sure it was done the right way. We are very proud of the project and I believe that JR, John, and the whole outfit feel the same way. Durazo Construction is professional, easy to work with, and conscientious. They are also fair and honest. Anymore those traits are rare and they go a long way in my book. This was my first time working with Durazo Construction and it has been an eye opener – I hope we can work together again soon.

John Mirto, Architect Poster Frost Mirto

It has been my personal and professional pleasure to work with JR and Mario Durazo of Durazo Construction for over 18 years. I have found Durazo Construction's ownership and staff to be of the highest integrity and holding the utmost honesty in their business practice. They are consistently timely, efficient and within budget on all of the projects I have worked on.

I would highly recommend Durazo Construction for any projects, jobs or work you may be interested in.

You will not be disappointed.

Carlo DiPilato, Former Planning and Development Division Manager Pima County NRPR Pima County NRPR

Durazo was always responsive to the requests of our Project Manager and the work always met or exceeded our expectations. If during the course of construction any issue was discovered with an item of the work, whether by their forces or those of a subcontractor, Durazo would see that the issue was addressed and corrected in an expedient manner.

We have called on the services of Durazo for a wide variety of projects work with varied schedule requirements. They have always been cooperative and done their best to meet these challenges with quality work.

Marcus E. Jones, RA TUSD Architecture and Engineering

JR, I wanted to thank you personally for the superb work your company performed at the project site on Rita Road.

The recent relocation of the PC repair shop, mail room, printer services and the reprographics area from B9022 to B9032 was a great success. The extra effort from your employees and your subcontractors is greatly appreciated and noted. Your staff’s quality of work and attention to detail has resulted in little to no warranty issues after the completion of your work.

The previous projects by your company at the Rita Road site were also very successful. The Phase 1 relocation of the mobility center, software engineering services and the Sprint Call center were all performed with skill, quality and cooperation to deliver the projects on time and within budget.

I am grateful to Durazo Construction for providing Fluor and our client with a positive experience in constructing our projects.
